Let's face it: every child or teen learns in a manner and at a pace that is unique to them. In school, their specific needs may not be understood or cannot be fully addressed, which can cause challenges in different academic areas. This does not mean that they cannot learn, however! It only means that they need more support. Sometimes, support starts by gathering more information about how that person learns best; at other times, it can involve tutoring so that instruction can be tailored specifically to them. Private tutoring can give them the time and space to work in a manner tailored to their needs and make a significant difference in their understanding. I strongly believe that students are best served when underlying skills are developed; as such, my approach to tutoring goes beyond the simple acquisition of concepts.
